  14.     PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
  15.  
  16.       XFile is a multifunctional desktop utility designed to run
  17.         under Windows 3.1.  The program consists only of a desktop icon
  18.     with its various operating "modes" selectable from its popup
  19.     menu.  The four supported file "modes" require file icons to be
  20.     "dropped" from File Manager (or a compatible Windows shell) onto
  21.     the XFile icon.  Processing will then occur according to the
  22.     options set by the user.  
  23.           Features included in the XFile application are as follows:

  25.          * Drag and drop file deletion.
  26.          * Drag and drop directory deletion.
  27.          * Drag and drop file/directory renaming.
  28.          * Drag and drop file/directory attribute alteration.
  29.          * Available resource monitor mode and multiple alarms.
  30.          * Available memory monitor mode. 
  31.          * Time display mode and alarm.
  32.          * Date display mode.
  33.          * Optional resetting of system time and date.
  34.          * Multi-drive file finder.
  35.          * Program launcher.
  36.          * Timed program execution. 
  37.              * Informational reports on various software and hardware
  38.              components of the user's system.

  41.     PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
  42.  
  43.       XFile requires Windows version 3.1 or higher to operate; a
  44.     mouse is required to utilize the file operations of the program.

  46.     PROGRAM INSTALLATION:
  47.  
  48.           While XFile may be run from a floppy disk, it is highly advisable
  49.     to copy the application program, XFILE.EXE, to any convenient area
  50.     of the hard disk.  It also suggested that XFile be placed in your
  51.     Windows "StartUp" group so it is always available on the desktop.
  52.       XFile makes no changes to any DOS or Windows configuration files.
  53.     It does create a parameter file called XFILE.INI, which is placed
  54.     in the default Windows directory (usually C:\WINDOWS).  If you 
  55.     remove XFile from your system, you should also delete this file 
  56.     along with the application program.
